La Grosse Cloche est le seul vestige de l'ancienne porte défensive du XIIIe siècle qui permettait le passage entre la double muraille et protégeait le bourg Saint-Eloi où habitaient jurats, commerçants et artisans. La cloche de l'ancien beffroi accolé au Moyen-Age à l'hôtel des Jurats sonna jusqu'à la Révolution les grands événements de la cité. Coulée en 1775 par le fondeur Turmel, la cloche pèse 7 800 kg. L'horloge astronomique fut construite en 1759 d'après le plan du mathématicien Larroque. 

The Big Bell is the only vestige of the ancient defensive door of the XIIIth century which allowed the passage between the double wall and protected the villlage Saint-Eloi where lived jurats, commercants and craftsmen. The bell of the ancient belfry attached to the Middle Ages in the hotel of Jurats sounded until the Revolution the big events of the city. Poured in 1775 by the caster Turmel, the bell weighs 7800kg. The astronomical clock was built in 1759 according to the plan of the mathematician Larroque.

La “Grosse Cloche” o gorda campana es el único vestigio de la antigua puerta defensiva del siglo XIII que permitía el paso  entre la doble muralla y protegía a su vez el distrito de Saint Eloi que era el barrio donde vivían  los alcaldes, comerciantes y artesanos. La campana del antiguo campanario colgada en la edad media toco hasta casi la revolución francesa, celebrando los grandes acontecimientos de la ciudad. Fundida en 1775 por el fundidor Turmel, la campana de hoy en día pesa alrededor de 7800 kg. El reloj astronómico fue construido en 1759 según los planes del matemático  Larroque.

该钟楼为现今仅存的十三世纪防御城门遗迹。兴建于原来的圣埃洛伊城门（13世纪称为圣雅各伯门）处，毗邻12世纪的圣埃洛伊教堂（Eglise Saint-Éloi)。其大钟铸造于1775年6月 重7800公斤，高和直径均为两米。该钟楼外壁所置的天文钟于1759年由数学家Larroque设计。

大鐘楼は唯一残された13世紀の古い守門であり、二重になった防壁の間に通行人を通す、商人、職人、市参事会員などが住むサンテロア区域を守るなどの働きをしていました。古い鐘楼の鐘は、中世に配置され、フランス革命まで町の重要な行事を知らせるために鳴らされていました。1775年、鋳造工トゥルメルによって鋳造されたこの鐘の重さは7800キロ。天文時計は、数学者ラロックの設計に基づいて1759年に作られました。
